What the jar says about where the resin comes from, and what shilajit is.

16,000 to 18,000 ft, on the label

The front of the Hima Shilajatu jar reads: from Himalayas in Gilgit-Baltistan. The Supplement Facts panel repeats it with a height, 16,000 to 18,000 ft altitude. The brand's description rounds that to 18,000 feet and calls the resin wild harvested.

Gilgit-Baltistan lies in the north of Pakistan. The Karakoram, the Hindu Kush and the western end of the Himalaya meet there, and several of the world's highest peaks stand in the region.

What shilajit is

Shilajit is not a plant and not a mineral ore. It is a sticky mass that collects in cracks of high mountain rock. In the jar it is nearly black, thick when cold and runny when warm.

The Hima Shilajatu label lists fulvic acid and humic acid by name and counts 85+ trace minerals. The label gives no amounts for them, only the 500 mg of resin in a serving.

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

From rock to resin

Raw shilajit comes out of the rock mixed with grit. The label calls the content of this jar purified shilajit resin. The brand says it uses no solvent extraction or chemical processing and adds no fillers.
